  • 1x6 Venev Centaur Series Dual Sided Diamond Sharpening Stones
  • Popular option for diamond sharpening
  • Utilizes a legacy binder with 100% diamond concentration
  • Available in various grit options for different sharpening needs
  • Recommended for optimal sharpening with water as a lubricant

The Venev Centaur Series diamond stones are a popular choice for users seeking a diamond option for sharpening. These stones are rated on the FEPA grit scale and utilize a legacy binder with 100% diamond concentration. The #400 to #2000 grit stones utilize an OCB binder with either 25% or 100% diamond concentration. The 25% diamond concentration is recommended for scratch-free sharpening, while the 100% diamond concentration is better for high performance.

These stones represent the 25% concentration diamond for optimal sharpening. The OCB version of Venev Diamonds uses a brand new yellow binder with no abrasive particles in the composition, offering better scratch-free sharpening results. The stones are available in four diamond stone options:

  • #80 Venev: Ideal for extremely heavy reprofiling
  • #150 Venev: Works great for heavy reprofiling work on knives with deep chips and can be used for reprofiling a factory bevel
  • #240 Venev: Works great for lighter reprofiling work on knives with lighter chips and can be used after the #150 grit
  • #400 Venev: Leaves a consistent scratch pattern and sets up the bevel for either the #1200 Atoma or low grit Japanese water stones like the #400 Chosera
  • #800 Venev: Refines scratch patterns and then prepares the bevel for use with Japanese water stones such as #800 Chosera
  • Cutting Abrasive: Synthetic diamonds with resin bonding
  • Backing Material: Aluminium core
  • Flatness tolerance: up to 0.2mm
  • Size: 1 x 6 inch or 150mm x 24mm

Venev Diamonds are recommended to be used with some water as a lubricant for the best cutting feedback and low dust. The diamond surface does not absorb water, so splash water on the diamond's surface during use. Dry usage is also acceptable, although it may result in faster wearing and stone loading.

Lapping improves the sharpening quality of fine diamonds but is not mandatory. Lapping can also eliminate the break-in period after purchase. You can use a Glass lapping plate for this purpose.
