The Cerax Stones do require soaking, however they're not extremely thirsty. A soak for only a few minutes and they're ready to go. An occasional splash of water during use keeps them working smoothly. They should not be stored in water.
Every Suehiro Cerax stone comes mounted to a supporting plate, the plate slots into the base unit upright for convenient use as a stone holder, or facing down the base unit can be used for storing the stone and also using it as a way to lightly soak the stone prior to use.
