The Hapstone Aluminium Oxide sharpening stone set is designed to provide a complete sharpening process for optimal results. The mounted professional knife sharpener stone can be easily snapped into your Guided sharpening system without the need for special tools.
With a size of 1" x 6" x 6mm and mounted to an aluminium blank, this stone works best when soaked in water for a minute or two before use. It is important to store it in a dry place in between uses.
The abrasive material used is Aluminium Oxide, making it a Waterstone that should not be used with oil. However, it can be used in conjunction with oil stones (such as Norton India and Arkansas stones) if the blade is wiped clean before and after switching stone types.
The Hapstone Aluminium Oxide sharpening stone set is suitable for sharpening almost all types of knives, scissors, tools, and chisels, including those made with abrasion-resistant steels. While the 1x6 size is intended for use with TSProf, EdgePro, Hapstone, and Jende JIGS systems, it is also a great size for slip stones, field stones, or as a pocket stone for knife repairs and on-the-go sharpening.
Please note that aluminium oxide stones are most effective for softer steel variants like 1095, 1080, 1070, 1050, 420, 440A, 440B, 3Cr13, 8Cr13MoV, 8Cr14MoV, 9Cr14MoV, AUS-4, and AUS-6. It is not recommended to use aluminium oxide stones for sharpening knives made of hard steel like D2, M390, and other super steels due to their lower performance and quick wearing nature.
