  • Aggressive and no-nonsense extra-extra coarse stones for serious profiling and repairs
  • Replaces coarse diamond plates and other extra coarse and coarse sharpening stones
  • Suitable for use on various knives, scissors, tools, and chisels
  • 1x4 size is ideal for use with the KME Sharpener and as a slip stone, field stone, or pocket stone

The 1x4 KME Jende Silicone Carbide Carborundum Stones offer aggressive sharpening capabilities for serious profiling, repairs, and initial sharpening. The #80 grit stone is an extra-extra coarse stone that quickly removes metal and can leave longer "whisper" scratches above the bevel. Despite its appearance, this stone excels in aggressive sharpening and can effectively replace coarse diamond plates and other extra coarse and coarse sharpening stones.

The #120 grit stone is an aggressive extra coarse stone suitable for profiling, repairs, and initial sharpening. While not as aggressive as the #80 grit stone, it still offers efficient metal removal and prepares the blade for further sharpening stages.

Both stones measure 1x4 inches and are mounted on steel blanks. They are designed for use with water only and perform best when soaked for a minute or two before use. It is recommended to store them in a dry place between uses.

  • Abrasive Material: Silicon Carbide
  • Stone Size: 1x4 inches
  • Stone Thickness: 5mm
  • Starting grit for major repairs and profiling
  • In place of any diamond grit plate or extra coarse stone
  • Use where mechanized sharpening and belt grinders are not available
  • Before progressing to another coarse or lower-end medium grit stone (120-1K grit)

The Jende Silicone Carbide #80 and #120 Grit stones are compatible in progression with various synthetic and natural sharpening stones from brands such as Chosera, Shapton, Sigma, Suehiro, Imanishi, Spyderco, King, etc. They are waterstones and should not be used with oil. However, they can be used in conjunction with oil stones if the blade is wiped clean before and after switching stone types.

These stones are not only suitable for use with the KME Sharpener but also serve as versatile slip stones, field stones, or pocket stones for on-the-go knife repairs and sharpening.
